Singer/songwriter/guitarist Zac Brown grew up in Dahlonega, GA, and performed as a solo artist for a number of years before founding the Zac Brown Band in Atlanta in 2004, the group's initial members also including John Hopkins (bass) and Jimmy De Martini (fiddle), with Coy Bowles (guitar, organ) and Chris Fryar (drums) joining later.
