Prolific percussionist and producer Steve Reid first surfaced during the mid-1970s, in the years to follow playing on over 700 recording dates, including sessions led by the legendary Miles Davis. In 1987, he scored his greatest success yet as a co-founder of the enormously popular contemporary jazz group the Rippingtons, also crossing over to pop audiences as a member of Supertramp.
