Metalcore pioneers Overcast formed in 1991 in Boston, MA, around the talents of bass player Mike D'Antonio, guitarists Pete Cortese and Scott McCooe, vocalist Brian Fair, and drummer Jay Fitzgerald. The band released its debut 7", Bleed into One, in 1992 on Exchange Records, followed by the full-length Expectational Dilution in 1994. Three more 7" releases arrived in 1995 and 1996, culminating in the Fight Ambition to Kill full-length the following year.
