British hard rock quartet Lion was formed in 1983 after ex-Tytan vocalist Kal Swan relocated from London to Los Angeles -- there he teamed with drummer Mark Edwards, fresh off a tenure in the band Steeler alongside guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen. After beginning work on a demo recording, Swan and Edwards recruited guitarist Doug Aldrich and erstwhile Mansfield bassist Jerry Best to round out the Lion lineup, and in 1984 the group made its recorded debut with "Love Is a Lie," a contribution to the Friday the 13th Part 4 soundtrack.
