Although based in Los Angeles, the shoegaze/indie rock band Foreign Born actually formed several hundred miles north, where singer Matt Popieluch moved in with guitarist Lewis Pesacov after both friends graduated from San Francisco State University in 2003. A jam session at a friend's going-away party spawned the idea of starting a group, and a few well-received performances around town convinced the duo to seriously pursue the project.
