A minor figure best-known for his association with Charles Mingus in the early '70s, Bobby Jones was a talented tenor saxophonist with a versatile style. He struggled in the musical minor leagues for a long time, playing with the Glenn Miller ghost band (1959), a few months with Woody Herman (1963), and for a short while, clarinet with Jack Teagarden.
